Evaluation of the Grammar Presentations

Dear FLE 324 Section 03 members,
You need to choose 2 grammar group presentations and comment on the successful aspects of these presentations of your peers that you have observed as well as the aspects that they need to improve in their presentations.
Also evaluate the presentations in terms of the following aspects: the aim of the lesson, the level of active student participation in the lesson, the clarity of the stages, the use of audio/visual aids, the interest level of students, the pacing of the material, the variety of pair/group/individual activities, the clarity of instructions, and the presenters' use of English, the presenters' oral performance in English and their presentation skills.
You need to specify the strong points and points to improve in the presentations as well.

The activities were well-prepared and between them there was a smooth transition. The song they made us listen to at the end of the lesson was a good choice in terms of language focus part and motivating the students. That they let us guess the rest of the story was also a good idea and their attitude towards us was friendly but they could be more energetic during the lesson.
The lesson was more like a revision lesson. They didn’t teach “gerund and infinitive” subject but made activities about it. The lesson plan they prepared can be very successful if it is used to revise “gerund and infinitive” subject but not to teach it.

    Elif / Fatma

Their language focus part was “passive voice”. They had a nice lesson plan but couldn’t have the lesson in the way they wanted due to time limit. The lesson included more communication compared to the drills. Language focus part was introduced clearly and supported by different activities. Elif and Fatma were enthusiastic about teaching which made us also enthusiastic. Group activity was exciting because it was like a competition. The group who finished first was given a reward, which made me and my group members happy. :>

The topic was fun for the students and their activities were very well prepared . However, it should be handled deeply. I understand them very well in that this is not their fault. During the presentations including our presentation nearly all the groups had some difficulty because of time limitation. I thought that their listening activity should have been a fill-in-blanks activity but after they already mentioned that they had planned it in that way.
Also again because of this problem, the lesson was more like a practice or revision lesson. The grammar teaching part is missing but they provide students with many activities about grammar topic.(Gerund/ infinitive) Students should be integrated in the lesson more.
The song was very motivating for the students and the speed of the song is suitable for the level of students. (intermediate level according to my notes)They try to engage all students in lesson in a friendly way. They motivated students by constant smiling.

    Sulgun

The instruction is very good via PPP and they are well prepared. They provide students many examples for example comparing Jonny Depp and Brad Pitt. In that, their sentences were very motivating for the students and could get their attention easily. It can be improved and should be extended more.
Irregular forms in the lesson should have been taught before. In one lesson the students may confuse what they learned.
They also had only one activity. They should have used more activities to make the topic more comprehensible. Students would also had chance to practice more. There were peer correction during their lessons which I found very engaging. Peer correction is very important during lessons and teacher would give chance to many students to speak and share their ideas.
Lastly, we should turn back to the reading passage and work on it a little more.

However all the presentations are very good and informative for us, they provide very good experience.

In my opinion, the presentation they did actually is a quite success. Firstly, I want to mention the successful aspects of their presentation. The first thing I liked about their presentation is that they did not expect over- production from the students. They simply introduced the topic, and then distributed handouts which were actually not kind of challenging and pushy at all. Their target student group's level was elemantary. Not expecting over- production from elemantary students is a beneficial strategy in terms of second language learning proces, I think. Another thing I liked about their presentaiton is that they used PPP during the teaching process. Since the target student group's age average is 9, marginal strategies like teaching grammar inductively or not paying attention to the grammar points at all are kind of abstract and make the learning process more difficult for young learners of grammar. Obviously seen that, the target student group's abstract and hypothetical thinking stage is not developed, so simply given instructions and teaching grammar via PPP will be the most safe way to teach grammar as İlknur and Birsen did. Other than that, presenter's use of English and the clarity of instructions are the most appealing points that attracts me in the presentation. They use very simple and clear instructions and the use of English is quite understandable. On the other hand I noted that some points of the presentation should be improved in a way. For instance, the transition between the stages are not that smooth at all. In my opinion, the more activities are linked together and transitions are smooth, the more acitivites make sense to the students.

    Gökhan / Nuriye

First of all, i have to admit that this one is one of the most enjoyable presentations and I liked it very much. The medium of instruction is Spanish, which creates a real- life like atmosphere for in that making us realize that learning a second language is very complex. Almost all of the presentations teaching focus is English, but Nuriye and Gökhan tried another studd and this is their one of the strengths about their presentation. On the other hand, I suggest them to clarify their instructions since as a target students group we couldn'nt easily get what we had to do or din't understand the explanations at all in ease.

Actually, with their all weaknesses and strengths, all the presentations taught me some stuff which I should avoid from or which I should focus on as a prospective English teacher.I learned from both of the succesful and unsuccesful parts of my friends' presentations.

They worked on “passive voice”. I think it was engaging in terms of communication. Instructions were clear and many activities were applied. They had a pretty good attitude towards the students and that was a strong point of the presentation. The competition element surely had us motivated. They also gave rewards in order to motivate the students. The only thing was they couldn't implement everything as they wanted due to time restrictions. But overall that was a good performance :)

    Neslihan - Sevda

The activities they prepared were on-point and they knew how to drift from one thing to another very well, so we didn't feel like there was a gap between those two. Song choice was very good and it also had the language elements that they focused on in it so that was like a wrap-up for us. They made us use our imagination by making us completing the rest of the story. I can say this was like a follow-up of a previous lesson considering we did activities about them but not really studied them in detail. Yet, overall it was a good lesson.

The lesson started with a nice warm activity. I think it drew students' attention. The aim of the lesson was clear. Their activities and the passage were really enjoyable and appropriate for the students' level. It was a well-organized lesson. Another good thing about the lesson was that instructions were clear and understandable for students. All students were volunteer to participate to the lesson. I liked Tülay's pronunciation. They gave feedback by checking the answers. Visuals were also very nice. They managed the lesson succesfully =)

    Neslihan&Sevda

I think the idea was really interesting especially for teenagers. The story and visiuals were really nice. They distributed a letter and in the passage only gereund or infinitive words are missing. ın my opinion, this activity very useful for grammar focus and combining it with the the topic. Material were appropriately paced in class. They also provided students different kind of activities.
However, I think the warm up part was missing. During the grammar focus it would have been better if they had told them difference between gerund and infinitive. Another negative thing was that not all sstudents were active in class. Morover, always the same students answered the questions.
As a result, it was a nice presentation. Thanks...

    Tülay – Nagihan
Their beginning was successful. The aim of the lesson was clear. They were really enthusisastic for the lesson. I liked their activities as they are attractive. In my opinion, the most attractive thing in their demonstration was that first they made a dialogue to be a sample for us. It was successful as a guide and a leading activity for the students. Their instructions were clear and comprehensible. They tried to make the students creative as much as possible. Moreover, they used visuals to attract the students’ attention. It was an effective lesson.
    Sulgun – Zohre
Their grammar instruction was effective using PPP. They used some popular artists to attract the students’ attention. Comparing these famous people was motivating for the students. However, they spent so much time on grammar explanation. Maybe, it would be better if they prepared one or two more activity instead of focusing on the structure instruction. I liked their approach to error correction. They didn’t correct the students’ mistakes themselves. First, they waited for the student to be aware of his/her own mistake. Then, they applied to peer correction. Students corrected their peers’ errors, which is more effective to make the structure permanent.

  7. Sulgun - Zohre

I like the general atmosphere of their presentation. as for the visuality they select using PPT to explain their grammar focus which is comparatives. They use celebrities to make their comparison and this is an interesting topic for the students. Their examples are well-defined and I like their approach to the students. The correction of the errors is also well because they give a chance for the students to correct themselves. The only thing I may suggest them is that they should have more activities related to the subject.

    Fatma-Elif

Their grammar focus is "passive voice". They choose dialogue as a way of teaching. It was a successful idea because students could see a model structure. Their attitudes towards students is very moderate. I like the group activity which contains a competition. Their reward is also motivating for the students. They could not do all the things they planned because of the time limitation but the lecture was quite successful.

  8. Neslihan- Sevda
Their lesson was like a revision of the gerund and infinitive. They didn’t teach “gerund and infinitive” subject but made activities about it. We could do the activities because of our proficiency level. But in real classroom environment it would be difficult for the students to do the activities before learning the topic deeply. So they should focus on the topic much more deeply. Other than this their presentation was very successful and enjoyable.
The story and visiuals were really nice and attractive for the teenagers. Also the song which they used was a good way to motivate the students for the lesson. The completion of the song by the students is helpful to improve the students' imagination and their creativity.
Overall it was a successful presentation.

  9. Fatma-Elif

They chose passive voice as their grammar focus. They used dialogues to teach the topic. And I think it was a brilliant idea to integrate the grammar and communication. And also with the help of dialogues they made the lesson much more attractive.
Their competition activity was also good to attract the attention of the students and to make the lesson enjoyable for the learners. And they gave a reward after competition it was also attractive for the students.
Their attitudes toward students was also nice by this way they motivated the students to attend the activities. By this way they made the students active and provide permanent knowledge for them.
It was an enjoyable and successful presentation.

  10. Gökhan/ Nuriye

    I really like their presentation.
Especially, Nuriye was very fluent in Spanish and they did not have any trouble in implementing the lesson plan.
Small cards for attaching and getting a sentence were very logical and at this level it was very appropriate.
Because of the time limitation, we could not see the whole lesson plan, for this reason, I would not be able to comment on the later stages, but the very first stages were very clear.
Instructions were very clear. In terms of visuals, actually, we could not see many visuals. While teaching, they used some pictures but I don’t think that they were matching with the meanings of the words. The lesson was based on a ppt presentation of rules and using the board.
Maybe they can do some listening tasks, like listening to a song or watching a video.
    There was variety of activities.

    Gülşen / Fikret
In general, I like their presentation. It was good apart from a few minor problems.
I really like the TPR activity; they wanted us to stand up and go near a friend and ask for his or her hobby. Like, what do you like best and the answer would be I like swimming/riding… It was a good activity and it was very enjoyable and I think that it is appropriate to use such an activity in lower level classes. I like their teaching style and their use of English.
Frankly, in some activities, instruction was not clear. We could not understand what we were supposed to do and in one activity, they wanted us to fill in the blanks. But the things that would come to the blanks were all same. So, we just fill the blanks with the same thing. This activity could be changed and could be made a little bit challenging because after teaching students what to do, they would not have any trouble in filling the blanks.
But I enjoyed the presentation in general.

They have great teaching skills. the general atmosphere of their lesson was really enjoyable. In terms of the flow of the course, their activities were really good and instruction was clear. They had already prepraed a sample dialogue and so this was a good leading activity for the young learners.Visuals were really attractive for the class. They also gave feedback to the students, this was another detail. The lesson was well organized. Thanks to them :)

    Gökhan-Nuriye
Their lesson was really enjoyable because there was something interesting in their lesson: Spanish. I think this detail attracted students very much and so this was a strength for their lesson. I even myself( as an advanced level of student) enjoyed it. But, in my opinion, their instructions could be more clear because sometimes we couldn't understand what to do. Anyway I should thank to them, it was an interesting and enjoyable lesson:)

    Birsen/ilknur
It seemed to me as if Birsen and İlknur’s lesson was organized with the help and combination of some other courses because the technique that they tend to use was somehow different than the classical approaches. With Powerpoint presentation, it has been clearly understood that grammar teaching takes less time than the way of using manual materials as boardmarker. Also, the handout they have distributed and other activities that help students practice what they have got from the class was a useful choice.

    Neslihan/Sevda
What I found specifically important in Neslihan/sevda’s lesson was of course the music that get our attention easily and would work in the same way for children in a real classroom as well. Also their smiling face during the lesson is a strong point for a language teacher. With minimum instruction and well prepared activities as many and enjoyable as possible, I got to conclude some tips from their lessons. However, both were somehow a bit slow during the lesson. It would of course be better if they could be some more energetic during the activites and transition between them. Anyway, practice makes perfect!

Their task based lesson plan was really a well-prepared one. The grammer focus was very subtly implemented in TBL. The aim of the lesson and the stages were very clear. Two of them spoke very naturally during the lesson. They did a variety of activities. The only thing to criticize is that the exercises might be more simple according to the level of the class. I think they are a bit complicated. But the students in the class actively participate the lesson, the presenters' skills and oral command of English were very good. Maybe there should have been a video or something like this for adding some fun to the lesson. But the two of them were great teachers during the entire lesson. Thanks to them for their successful performance.

    Fatma-Elif
Their class management skills and teaching abilities were superb. They had a very good use of language and a very pure pronunciation. Their lesson plan was an excellent sample for teaching grammar explicitly. They used the board effectively. There were only two points which needs to be improved: One of them was the exercises: they should have been less complicated and secondly maybe there should have been a production activity. But except these minimal issues they were really perfect teachers and the students' participation to the lesson was a good indicator for this. Thanks for their brilliant teaching session.

My friends' presentation was one of best and most enjoyable presentations and I really enjoyed it. First of all, they used Spanish while they were teaching and giving the instructions and that was most remarkable part of it. I haven't heard any full sentence in Spanish in my life but I could understand what is told easily. Apart from that, the activity we did in the class was a bit challenging but I think that was normal because it was really hard to learn all words taught in a new language in such a limited time. Finally, thanks to my friends' effort, that was a really succesful presentation.

    Gülşen/Fikret

In their presentation there was an activity during which we used what we learned by asking questions to our friends and answering the questions that our friends asked us. Speaking activities like that can be very helpful for our students because what our students need most is using the language that they learn. Sometimes we -as students- couldn't understand the instructions clearly and we created a chaos in the class but it was very enjoyable :) I liked their presentation. Thanks!

In general, their activities were very appropriate for the lesson topic. They taught 'If Clauses' and they used a song which includes lots of examples on that grammar topic. It was very enjoyable. Also, their following activities were related with that song so they made good transitions between activities. During following activities, the students used their imagination and creativity while forming sentences using target grammar topic.

    Nuriye- Gökhan
I think that their lesson was very enjoyable and they attracted our attention during the lesson time. One of the reason of this may be the fact that they are enthusiastic teachers. They used a differant language during the lesson. Although we didin't know that language, we could understand the instructions and we could deal with activities in a successful way. Thanks for that good lesson.

  16. Gökhan / Nuriye
Their presentation was magnificent because they could immerse us in an atmosphere of a real foreign language classroom as the majority of us did not know Spanish. As teachers they were very enthusiastic, smiling and encouraging. A lesson appeared to be very successful and students liked it as they were really doing something. Thank you for this lesson.

    Tülay – Nagihan
The lesson was quite successful. The teachers were enthusiastic their presentation and instructions were clear and understandable. Their attempts to involve students in creativity were very nice. Their ability to attract students during the lesson made this lesson both comprehensive and attractive.

  17. Neslihan/ Sevda
Initially, I think that the song was the perfect choice. It is a fact that children really like songs and they easily warm up with the help of the song. The harmony between Sevda and Neslihan was also perfect. They had some troubles during the lesson, however they easily handled them by eye messages and mimics and gestures. Another point that I really appreciated is that they switched to one activity from another very calmly, in an undisturbed way. One of the good point that I can tell is that they provided students an opportunity to show their imagination and creativity. They left the end of the story to the students to complete.
The only drawback I saw during the lesson was that they seemed to have lack of dynamism. They might be a little more energetic and they might get closer to the students.

    Tülay/ Nagihan
When I watched them teach, I really got the impression that the lesson was real, we were really their students, and they are really professionals. I was impressed by the sample dialogue between two of them. As far as I remembered, that was an extra which many of the groups didn't do. I willingly participated in their lesson because their enthusiasm was awesome. Also, they used a simple and clear language, their illustrations and the demonstration was simple and clear as well. They gave feedback which was also another extra. There was no notable drawback that I witnessed. There were only some transition troubles, but almost all the teachers may have such problems. In general, it was one of the most effective lessons and I really enjoyed it.

The warm-up section was good. They always smiled and checked the student while they were doing the activities. What was more important that they engouraged cooperation. However, the activities were kinda same and grammar teaching part needed to be revised.

    Gökhan/Nuriye

The presentation was in Spanish and most of us dont know it so I felt like in a real classroom, I was really interesting and they were good at getting the attention of the students. We enjoyed the class. They were ethusiastic to teach. When some were reluctant to do the activities since it was another language, they encouraged the students to participate. Their activities were good but it would be better if they illustrated their lesson with more visual.

I think, their presentation was really enjoyable and useful. I especially liked the pictures used during the presentation. Activities were enjoyable and suitable for high school students, because especially teenagers are interested in famous people very much. Instead of writing all the grammar rules on the board, teaching them with the help of powerpoint presentation can help them for the time issue. Teachers were enegitic, and showed that they were eager to teach English. There were various exaples. This could help students for repitition. In this way they can learn better. For me, there was just one missing part about the presentation. Production part was missing. It would have been better to do group activies for interaction. In this way students can learn some rules and sturucturs about grammar from their own friends.

    Sevda & Neslihan

I liked thae way they thaugt grammar in terms of skills. There was a song for students to listen. I think listening is imporatnt for input. If we want our students to produce sentences, we need to have listening activities in our lessons, even when teaching grammar. Finding a story in which there were grammar stuructures to be taught was a good idea. For this story students neeeded to complete it with the help of their imagination and thaugt grammar structure. There are two aspects about this presentation that can be improved. Sometimes, presenters did not give any explanation while doing the exercises. This may demotivate students, and because of this students may be lost. The second one is that warm up part was a little short. It would have been better to have a little longer and more interactive warm- up to make them ready for the following parts of the lesson.

I think both Fatma and Elif was enthusiastic about teaching. I like the warm-up part very much. It raise students attantion and curiosity. Other than this, activities were appropriate for the level of students. And teachers' attitudes towards to students are very encouraging. But in my opinion, they can use more visuals in the presentation to attract students attention more.
ın the lesson, the aim of the lsson was clear, they use variety of activities, stages were clear, their pronunciation was good and they speak naturally.
All in all, I like my friends' presentation.
    Sülgün-Zöhre
I want to comment about Sülgün and Zöhre's presentation. I can say that they were very successful in teaching. it can be because they did practice teaching before. becoming experience is very important I think.
ıf we come to presentation part, I observed that their attitudes to students is very good. examples about grammar structures are suitable and appealing, they also give lots of examples which is very useful and good for understanding of students. The most important think I observed in the lesson is their encouragement to students communication. I think teachers everytime encourage students to communicate in their lessons.
other than these, the aim of the lesson was clear, they use the board, and their wiritng was good ( which is very important I think), the stages of the lesson was clear and lesson was understandable, they could use appropriate materials and could speak fluently and naturally.
All in all, the lesson was very good. They can do something with reading passage. Except this, they are perfect :)

They were very successfull in terms of classroom management skills and teaching abilities according to me. They used language appropriately and clearly. ın that they could be understood easily by their students and this was important in terms of doing the activities.they did few grammar and pronunciation mistakes while speaking during their presentation. They also used the board effectively. but ı think it would be better if they used more visuals as the students will be attracted by them and would be more engaged with the lesson. Other than this, activities were appropriate for the level of students. They were competitive and it was good to attract the attention of the students. their using reinforcements by giving reward after competition was also attractive for the students. And teachers' attitudes towards to students are very encouraging.

    Birsen-İlknur
they were successful at their presentation according to me as they chosed appropriate activities for their elementary level students. also they used effective visuals like PPP in their presentation and this is a very good way of attracting students at that level. they also gave the instructions clearly in a simple way. theiy used the target language clearly and appropriately. their hand outs and materials were also nice and effective for students. ın general their presentation was a succesful and useful one according to me.

their lesson was really good. all the activities were well organized. also monitoring the class was perfect; they were in relations with the students and tried to help them. they managed the class successfully. furthermore they were willling to teach, they had smiling face and this is good for children's motivation. the only point that was deficient was that there were no interactive activities in their lesson plan. however, the lesson was nice. thanks to them:)

    Neslihan- Sevda

ı really like their lessons. the activities were well organized; they teach the topic explicitly. the song that they used was really enjoyable. the deficiency is they could have given the basic verbs with the answers and they may focus a bit more on the form. but in spite of these things, ı enjoyed in their lesson. they are like real teachers. thank you so much!=)

It was very good to experience a lesson in a different language. Nuriye was very fluent speaker of Spanish and Gökhan was also very good presenter. The dialogue between two teachers was very creative and it was a good way to motivate the students for the lesson; it was a good start for the lesson. Generally I liked the lesson. I think it would be better if a few verbs were inflected because it was a little bit hard to learn all the conjugations in a lesson. It was a successful lesson :)

    İlknur/ Birsen
They used the visuals successfully. It was a strong feature of this presentation because visuals are great tools to call students' attention. The explanation part was very clear. Also the teachers used the board effectively during the lesson. The teachers were very enthusiastic and they were really good at motivating the students.

Their lesson was one of the successful ones in the class. They tried to tie the students with the subject and to get their attention by doing a 'competition' activity which has also add some additional fun and creativity along with success to their presentation. However, as it was also stated by my friends above, there were time constraints and therefore they had difficulty in smoothing the lesson flow and presenting it in the way they wanted.

    Neslihan / Sevda

It was a nice lesson in terms of the grammar focus and the activities. They were well organized and meaningful. I think a student would enjıy it. However, the students might enjoy it much more if the teachers have the same enthusisasm. They lacked a bit 'motivation' sometimes which is the only drawback of the overall presentation

I think their lesson was quite enjoyable. They told the lesson in Spanish. Majority of the students do not know that language. Their activities were really appropriate and their body languages helped us to understand the lesson perfectly. Thanks to them we understand that how much difficult for a student learn a language about which they do not know anything. We also understand the importance of body language and visuals to teach a language. Moreover, they were very energetic and enthusiastic during their demonstration. They encouraged us to participate to the lesson. As I know Spanish a little, their pronunciation was good and also their transition between activities was appropriate.

    Rabia/ Hanım/ T. Begüm
Their subject was passive voice. Begüm started the lesson with ppt explaining the passive voice. I think explaining the subject in a deductive way was not appropriate. PPT was also very long and boring. Then, they used a song including a lot of sample examples about the passive voice. That was quite enjoyable and that was appropriate for their level. They had a lot of activities about their subject. These helped us to understand the subject clearly. They were really enthusiastic during the demonstration. Their pronunciation was good.

The atmosphere that they created in the lesson was quite good. The flow of the lesson was so natural that I got the impression that it was a real lesson. The sample dialoge that they did in the lesson was a good model in terms of the using targer grammar. Tülay was always smiling during the lesson I think it was good quality of a teacher espeacially while working with the young learners. Lastly the language and the word usage was appropriate for the levels of the students in terms comprehensibility.

    Sevda & Neslihan
First of all, I really liked the topic choice for the grammar lesson. It was quite intersting and appropriate for the teenagers. The activities and the song were successfully integrated to the lesson. The instructions that they gave for the activities were also understandable.I like the warm-up activity which asks students to think about the topic and let students use their imagination. Briefly it was a nice presentation however the grammar focus wasn't enough for students to be able to do the activites.

    Tülay and Nagihan

The lead in part was nice. The Pictures they use was catchy. Also they seem as if they are real teacher. Because they were very caring for the students. There was a pozitive atmosphere in the classroom. Students were willing to participate.Tülay was similing throughout the lesson. This is a very important feature for a teacher.Teacher's similing can lead sudents to have pozitif attitude towards the lesson. Also Before they wanted from students to make diolog they madean exmple diolog between themselves. This gave the students an idea about how to do the diolog. Lastly i liked their giving feedback to the students.

    Zöhre and Sülgün

They were really enthuastic teachers. They were similing. And they tried to make the students participate in the lesson. While telling comparatives and superlatives they used the pictures of the famous people. I think that was great choice for the level of the students. Because teenagers already do comparisons for the famous people in their daily life. So the topic most probably will be intersting for them. So the teacher' choosing famous people as a topic can reasult in a more effective lesson. Morever; i like the teacher's wanting from the students to correct their friend's mistake. If the teacher corrects the mistake himsef or hersef, The only student who listens to the teacher will most probably be the one who makes the mistake. But in this way other students also willgive their attention to the situation, think critically and try to find where the mistake is. Andt they will make a prediction.I think this activity will develop both their interpersonal intealigences and critical thinking. Over all it was an effective lesson.

The warm up activity of the lesson was very successful. Everything was clear and understandable. Language usage was very good. The teachers were very enthusiastic for the lesson. They spoke to each other firstly and then they wanted from us students to spoke with using the target grammar subject. They made up a passage which contained target grammar subject. It was very creative and all of the activities were attractive. They were successful teachers.

    Gokhan/Nuriye
They taught us Spanish. It was enjoyable and interesting. Nuriye spoke English most of the time, which was good. The activities were well prepared and there was a good transition between those activities. But they could use more visuals and prepare some listening activities. We had some difficulties while doing activities because of Spanish but while doing activities, the teachers very helpful.

The activities were suitable for students' level. Transition between activities was very good. They didn't finsh one activity and start another suddenly. There was connection between activities. Wanting students to complete the story was very good. It encouraged students to use their creativity and new strcutures at the same time.
However they didn't teach a grammar point. Their lesson was more like a practice lesson for gerund and infinitives. There should have been a grammar focus.

    Tülay/Nagihan

First of all, their energy motivated us although we weren't children as it will be in real classrooms. Their instruction was very clear and the sample dialogue that they made before asking students was very well-thought, because mostly students have questions about what they will do in the activity or how they will do the activity.

Their transition from warm up to the target grammar structure was quite successful. They were good in creating a real communication athmosphere in the classroom. They started the lesson using the target structures. This served two purposes firstly they formed a role model by showing the students how to use target structure in communication and it was a kind of consciousnes raisin to the target items. they also provided input. They were quite persuasive in acting and thier pronunciation was good.

they were really awesome during the lesson. the first thing what is must for students is motivation and encouragement. they could provide it with their warm smile and friendly speaking. their activities were really nice they were like in real life. they are really good at creating a real communication. another point is that they did not have any difficulty with transitions they are really good at it. they were really good models.

  33. Birsen and ilknur presented the possession to the elementary level of students. What I like most abour the presentations was they used lively visuals and appealing concepts to the young learners such as talking about an alien who has more than two legs and purple skin which is appropriate to the imaginative and easily bored young learners. Otherwise talking about cliches ( I have two brown eyes) and the conveying messages that the others already know is not a good way of handling the lesson. What I am suggesting is they could have used more communicative exercises and used the information gap technique to make their exercises more meaningful and exciting. They could have formed groups and played games. The topic was quite appropriate for this. They preferred deductive grammar teaching. Actually I did not make up my mind yet about should we teach grammar inductively or deductively. Which way is better of are they equal in effectiveness. However what I see most in my friend’s presentations, deductive way was picked up and they were quite succesful. I actually think that explicit teaching of a grammar has a place in EFL contexts however we should really be eficient in how we do it. We should not bombard the students with rules first

At first when she was introducing the lesson topic she caught them by not saying exactly the main topic and what she wanted but made them predict, what it was, by giving them clues. Predictions made students talk which is very rarely happens in the classes. Then she made them see the topic and then identify the main problem; passive voice. All in all the process of the lesson was very good and interesting. I liked it very much and enjoyed a lot. I am sure that in the future they will definitely be perfect teachers and in their classes the students will have fun and learn the language.

    Gokhan Ozkan and …………
They taught Spanish, and I very liked it. It was very fun and I enjoyed it very much. Of course, it was very difficult to adapt Spanish but then after some examples and practice it began to be easy. The enthusiasm of the teacher also kept us in the mood of learning and the exercises are also were appropriate for the starter learners. Even if she was talking a little bit fast for us it was easy to understand her because Spanish was little similar to English. I think I would participate in her classes because it was really fun and good way of learning the language.

their starting to lesson and introducing the topic was interesting and enjoyable. their aim was pretty clear and they applied all the stages successfully. their presentation is one of the most remarkable presentations in the lecture. they were intimate and also like professionals.they were so enthusiastic that I got enthusiastic just by listening them. They spoke to each other firstly and then they wanted from us students to spoke with using the target grammar subject.this was a efficient technique. they also encouraged students to participate in the lesson.

starting of this presentation was not efficient. there was a ppt presentation and it was nor interesting. ıt was long and was consisiting of grammar structures and some boring examles. I did nort like this part. howeveri rest of the lecture was quite fan efficient. other teachers applied many activities and settled the rules down. they were very intimate and active. their stages were clear and appropriate for the level of the students.

Their demonstration have some strong and weak points. Firstly the teachers were very enthusiastic and they movivated us to the lesson. The pictures used in Powerpoint presenataion were very good in terms of taking attention. To teach the topic with famous people also took our attention and I think it can also work in a real classroom. The error corection of the teacher made students enthusiastic and relax.
There also some points which should be developed. Using Powerpoint while teaching garramr is not a good idea. Because students focus only the pictures and they do not give enough attention to the grammar topic. I think Using the board while teachin grammar is more beneficial. They could also do mre exercises for making the topic more comprehensible and evaluatig if the students understtod or not.Genarally they did it well

    Gokhan and Nuriye
They taught Spanish which made me a real beginner student. Firstly the teachers were enthusiastic which made us enthusiastic also. Making another language rather than English is a good idea. In first part of the demo we had an introduction to Spanish. During the lessons we had difficulties to understand the instructions. Because the exercises we were expected to do was beyond our level and we were discouraged because of this reason .But generally the language and the teachers were good.

Firstly, they were succesfull in terms of classroom management. Although there were a few grammar and pronunciation mistakes made by teacher, their language was accurate and understanble for students. They used the board effectivley, but it would be a good idea to use more visuals to help students' learning. Their materials and activities are appropriate for students' level. Also rewarding the students after a competition was also nice because it encouraged the students.

    Neslihan/Sevda

To begin with a song has always been a good idea in a task based lesson. It prepared the students for lesson. It was a nice song. The activites were presented to students in a harmony. The transition between an activity to antoher was succesfull. They made students use their creativity and imagination. Sometimes, teachers had difficulty in their inter-communication, but they handled them easily. The only thing I can list as a disadvantage was the lack of motivation and energy. To tell the truth, they could have been more energectic

I like the way they teach us Spanish. We learned some basic sentences without any given translation. Choosing Spanish instead of English made the lesson more realistic. However the lesson lacks some visual objects.

    Sevda & Neslihan

I like the organization of the activites. Lead-in part was very motivating. Also the continous parts were very cathing. Young learners would follow the lesson without getting bored. The way the teachers approach to students were friendly too. Even if they intended to teach the grammar focus, the activities were more appropriate for revising rather than teaching.

This was one of the best presentations as they managed to teach us Spanish although some of us including me don't know any Spanish. I think this is a success without using any translation. They used the board effectively. However, they used drilling and memorization as a strategy. For instance, in the activity to combine the words to form sentences, we need to guess because we are not confident enough to form sentences yet. That's why it would be more appropriate if they could have provided us the sentences in a context.

    Sevda and Neslihan

Their materials were the most powerful side of their presentation. They took the students' attention to the topic by using colorful presentation. It was obvious that they are well-prepared. They also asked logical questions which helped the students to deduce the information from the text.

all of us really made effort while preparing presentations. we chose topic, related songs videos etc. however we should be carefull with selection. sevda and neslihan's demo was for adolesences their choice of song was good but ı do not like the video at all. it was not appropriate for the classroom centext.

    tülay&nagihan

the instructors were great especiallt tülay. she was energetic. they made use of the goodness of their topic. they prepared really nice activities. they succeeded to inhibit the learners affective filter. they were caring and smiling all the time.

The group who finished first was given a reward.

    Tülay&Nagihan

The aim of the lesson was clear. Their activities and the passage were really enjoyable and appropriate for the students' level. It was a well-organized lesson. Another good thing about the lesson was that instructions were clear and understandable for students. All students were volunteer to participate to the lesson. I liked Tülay's pronunciation. They gave feedback by checking the answers. Visuals were also very nice. They managed the lesson succesfully =)

They have found a very interesting way to convey their message which is have/has got structure. The creature they show really takes interests of all students. But I would prefer students draw their own creature or alien then describe it in written form using have, has got instead of giving them fill in the blank activity. Nevertheless, their lesson was enjoyable.

    Hanım - Rabia- Begüm
The teacher teaches grammar using a powerpoint, which is good for visual learners. However it would be better she asks for example if clause sentences from student orally just before the fill in the blanks activity. And I don’t think reduction of if clauses are appropriate to teach at that stage and level. The video was very suitable to the topic and very enjoyable but I think it should be shown at the beginning of the lesson. Nevertheless the lesson was good in terms of material and activity variety. The flow of the lesson and instructions were clear enough for the level.

The topic was"passive voice". The instructions were clear and many activities were applied. They had a good attitude towards the students and that was a strong point of the presentation. The competition element had motivated the class.furthermore, they gave rewards in order to motivate the students. The only thing was they couldn't implement everything as they wanted due to time restrictions. All in all, it was very good.

    Zöhre & Sülgün

In my opinion, their presentation was really enjoyable and useful. The pictures, used during the presentation, were well chosen. Activities were enjoyable and suitable for high school students, because especially teenagers are interested in famous people very much. Since they used the PPP for explaining the rules and did not write it on the board, they were very good in time and had not to hurry up. Teachers were enegitic, and showed that they had fun in teaching English.. There were various examples. This could help students for repitition. In this way they can learn better. All in all, it was a good lesson.

First of all, it was a really good presentation for teenagers.I really liked the topic choice for the grammar lesson. It was quite interesting and appropriate for the age level. The activities and the song were successfully integrated to the lesson. They were successful in taking the attentions. The instructions that they gave for the activities were also understandable.

The warm-up activity which gives students chance to think about the topic and let students use their imagination.

The only drawvack I can say was the lack of enugh exercises for students to make learning more efficient and the video which may not be appropriate for some students..

In short, it was very good one :))

My favourite part of the lesson was when they spoke to ach other and then wanted the students to do so by usint the grammar units. It encouraged students to participate which was very importans :))
They used the board effectively but they could have used more visual materials or listening activities.

As for the attitudes of the teachers, it was impressive. They wre like professionals and creacted a nice learning athmosphere for the students :)) And because the lesson was in Spanish, they were also very helpful to the students. So positive, I liked it :))
